About us
The National Center for Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Novi Sad was founded 2003. The founders and members are renowned medical doctors (5), engineers (3), psychologists (2), lawyers (2), journalists (3), pedagogues (3), teachers (2), veterinaries (1), nurses (1), translator (1), and designer (1). They form 9 teams.
The National Center for Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Novi Sad operates in the Republic of Serbia territory and might be associated to different associations with similar goals home and abroad. Our funds are membership fees, funds received on the grounds of sponsorship and donations.
The field of our activities is: Community Safety Promotion, based on partnership and collaboration, governed by a cross- sectional group that is responsible for safety promotion in their community, protection and improvement of environment; promoting human rights, humane relationships and tolerance; inclusion of marginal groups; increasing the safety level in local community; improving quality of life; preventing injuries and violence according to occurrence and population groups.
The National Center for Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Novi Sad cooperates with kindergartens, schools, gerontology centers, administrative center for including the Romanies, police, firefighters, SOS phone line, sport centers ect. Governmental organisations and NGOs.
The first Safe Community in South Eastern Europe, Backi Petrovac in Serbia was designated in the year 2008. with strong support of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Novi Sad.
The WHO Collaboration Centre, Stockholm (Sweden), Karolinska Institutet, accept wishes to, as it has been already done worldwide, develop the Community Safety Promotion and partners would be welcome, the National Center for Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Novi Sad being among the already confirmed ones.
The WHO Collaboration Centre become aware that the region is ready to accept changes in the field of injury prevention and safety promotion, primarily for its own good, as well as sending a clear message to the internationally community about it!
The WHO Collaboration Centre accepts and supports the idea of National Center for Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Novi Sad founding the South East Europe Countries Community Safety Promotion Network.
The results achieved and the experience of Sweden, where Safe Community Movement was started and first Safe Community in the world (Safe Community Lidköping, 1989) was established, would be of great help in our National center for Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion Novi Sad efforts in establishing many new Safe Communities in South East Europe Countries and Community Safety Promotion Network.
